Craft & Produce Show
Craft, flowers and produce from around the world (around the corner in Beeston)
- The Craft and Produce Show is open to all and free to take part
- Organised by the Friends of Cross Flatts Park and supported by Beeston Festival volunteers
- It is a competetive show and aims to get members of the community to enter items they’ve made or grown into various categories, which are then judged by independent specialists
- No need to pre-arrange entry – just turn up on the day
- Prizes are certificates and rosettes – NB. It is intended to be a ‘just for fun’ event which encourages all levels of entry. If we offered cash prizes, we might attract professionals and therefore lose the community and amatuer feel.
Categories and classes include (this is not the full listing)
- Homegrown flowers and plants – 3 roses, 3 iris, flower arrangement in vase, homegrown cactus
- Homegrown vegeatables and fruit – root veg including potatoes and radishes, rhubarb, peas / beans and soft fruits including strawberries
- Home cooked food – jar of jam or marmalade, homemade bread, cakes, traditional dish from any country
- Homemade crafts – cards, jewellery, homemade garments, paintings
- Photography – people, local scenes, holidays, parks and green spaces
- Children’s categories (Please note there are three age categories 4-7, 8-11 and 12-16 years) – Scariest / sparkliest mask, animal made out of vegetables, homemade biscuits, cake or buns, photography and painting
Entry is as follows:
Bring entries to the Friends of Cross Flatts Park marquee in Cross Flatts Park between 11am-12.30pm on Beeston Festival day.
The marquee will be near the small children’s playground and the Watsonia pavillion. Each entry will be given a number. Judges will not know who has entered what.
Judging will take place between 12.30-2pm. After that, the show will be open for public viewing. Entries can be collected after 4pm.
